Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä (/veɪ̯̄ʒæ̋/ /jîːɜː/ [hungry] [layout]) is a subtropical Town located in the Wâkǐy Provence of the Kingdom of Hobben.

The name Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä is derived from the Goblin language, as Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä was founded by Sérm Ca̋nvé̄y 'Ivory Roxy' Vúoībō Mä̂f̄y Joīshī, who was culturaly Hobgoblin.

Climate

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä has a yearly average temperature of 23°C (73°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 29°C (84°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 18°C (64°F). Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä receives an average of 174 cm/y (68 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä covers an area of nearly 5 km² (2 mi²), and an average elevation of 3826 m (12552 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä was founded durring the late 13th century in fall of the year 1253, by Sérm Ca̋nvé̄y 'Ivory Roxy' Vúoībō Mä̂f̄y Joīshī. The establishment of Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Sérm Ca̋nvé̄y 'Ivory Roxy' Vúoībō Mä̂f̄y Joīshī electing to pay people to resettle in Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä.

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä was built using the conventions of Hobgoblin durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä is is constructed arround a series of crampt paverstone mainstreets which form concentric circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to each other at varrious points. The town has a defencive wall made from querried stone. The wall is equipped with a full set of battlments but the nature of its construction methodology leaves it somewhat vulnerable to siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä's cost-cutting-focused defences are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

A quick look in any direction shows Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä is filled with vices. There are many taverns, brothels are advertising their services on the streets, cardsharks are plying their illicit trade within public squairs, and every shop has at least three signs advertising various sales on goods. That alone wouldn’t be too noticeable, if it wasn’t just so omnipresent and overwhelmingly how the people of this town live. Or if the general public wasn’t so enthusiastically, openly, and merrily participating in these activities.

Civic Infrastructure

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä.

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is famous for its stately symmetry, classical elements, and grand appearance. Columns and pillars, such as Corinthian columns, are often seen supporting open structures or porticos. Symmetry is an important feature of this style, with each half of a building mirroring the other. Domed ceilings and windows grace these buildings, with everything placed in a mathematical arrangement.

In Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä every night at precisely midnight every structure in town is engulfed by sailors fire until the end of the witching hour.

The Sawleg Locust near Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Vāyeä̋ Yêr Kēä's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves performance art to channel Truename Magic energies of tier 2 via oath swearing.
